From unique activities and signature experiences to sublime culinary offerings and an unrivalled beach, Long Beach is a stunning choice for couples and families alike.
To truly make the most of both the resort as well as the fascinating multicultural destination of Mauritius itself, a trip to Long Beach really deserves a minimum of a 7-day stay, where each day is sure to offer something different.
Interested to find out how you could spend 7days at Long Beach? This is what your holiday in paradise could look like:
If you arrive in the evening, we highly suggest settling into the gorgeous luxury island hotel and getting a good night’s sleep so that you can fully embrace the magic of Long Beach from day one. However, the first day of your holiday should be about enjoying the island lifestyle to its fullest and letting go of any stress. Post-buffet breakfast, enjoy a guided endemic trail walk through Long Beach’s exotic garden as you embrace a gorgeous morning in Mauritius.
Treat yourself to a relaxing treatment (or two) at the sublime Cinq Mondes Spa, and indulge in the spa facilities to ensure that you start your holiday off on the right foot. With tailor made treatments and excellent therapists as well as unbelievable relaxation areas, you might just find it hard to leave this tranquil sanctuary.
After a sumptuous lunch at one of Long Beach’s extraordinary restaurants, if you are feeling the effects of jetlag, it might be time to head to the beach or lounge by one of the resort’s pools. Enjoy a signature cocktail as you embrace the luxury of the Sun Beach offers. Enjoy the rest of the day here and head to one of the unbelievable restaurants for a memorable dinner and some live Mauritian entertainment.
A great way to start day 2 at Long Beach would be with a sunrise kayak session. Take in the unparalleled peace of sunrise (Long Beach is on the sunrise coast after all) and marvel at the gorgeous golden hues as the sun rises and the colours dance along the water’s surface. Enjoy a glass of refreshing detox water before heading to breakfast.
If you enjoy outdoor activities, it might be time to take a look at what is on in the hotel’s daily activity programme to see if there is a class or activity you would like to partake in or go to the sport’s centre to see what is on offer. From wall climbing and yoga to soccer and volleyball tournaments, there’s sure to be something perfect for you.
For those who enjoy a novel class, see if any art, cooking or cocktail making classes (or some other unique class) is on offer and show off your skills. If the weather is good, it also makes for another perfect opportunity to explore all the wonderful things that Long Beach has to offer.
If you are eager to explore the island then day 3 is a perfect time to do just that. We recommend heading to the fascinating, bustling capital city of Port Louis. Port Louis is really worth seeing in full, which is why a full day here is ideal. You might want to get your fill of shopping either at the Caudan Waterfront or the vibrant local markets, discover some of the historic streets and architecture and pop into a few of the many museums and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Aapravasi Ghat. When the hunger pangs hit, do yourself a favour and head to Chinatown where some of the island’s best street food can be found.
Enjoy a slow morning with a languid breakfast (served in-room perhaps) and a dip in the ocean. Then we recommend hiring a car, going on a pre-planned tour or simply hiring a taxi for the day and taking a road trip of the north of Mauritius to see what else (other than Port Louis) it offers.
Be sure to visit the extraordinary Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens in Pamplemousse, do a tour of the gorgeous colonial estate, Domaine de Labourdonnais and visit the sugar museum at L’Aventure du Sucre. If you start feeling hungry or are looking for a wonderful place to explore, make sure you stop at Grand Baie, the hugely popular tourist hot spot in the north where you can find a wealth of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. When you leave Grand Baie you will be on a stunning stretch of coastal road that has many photo opportunities.
After a few days of sightseeing, it might be time for a day of pure island indulgence, or even a round of golf, which is why we definitely recommend a day spent at Ile aux Cerfs. Catch a free shuttle from the hotel to the jetty and a complimentary boat from there to the island, or opt for a catamaran cruise or boat day trip. Once on the island, you can immerse yourself in the wonders of the tropical living, with 3 excellent eateries, a tropical beach bar, a superb beach and an array of land and sea-based activities to enjoy (think everything from obstacle courses to parasailing). On the other side of the island lies the 18-hole championship golf course designed by Bernhard Langer, the golf academy, the Pro Shop and the exclusive golfer beach. There’s no doubt that Ile aux Cerfs has something for everyone and makes for a memorable day in Mauritius.
After a fun-filled day in the sun at Ile aux Cerfs, it’s time to hit the road again on day 6 to see some of Mauritius’ most stunning and unique sights with a road trip to the south of the island. Some of the highlights of this excursion will certainly be Le Morne and the mythical Le Morne Brabant (another UNESCO World Heritage Site) as well as the amazing coastal road and incredible beaches. If you have time, it’s worth heading a little inland to the Chamarel complex where you will find some incredible natural wonders, including the Seven Coloured Earth, Mauritius’ famous coloured sands. There are also many towns or small villages along the way to pop in for snacks or a refreshing drink.
After a few busy days, we recommending soaking up the incredible luxury offerings at Long Beach itself, such as its VIP Beach experience. With this, you can opt for a luxurious sunbed package, allowing you the chance to embrace an unrivalled day on the beach, where everything is catered for. From perfectly created food and tantalising drinks to a beach butler on hand to clean glasses, provide you with sunscreen and face mister and much more, this is sure to be the perfect way to end your trip to this exceptional oasis.
